November 12-13 - 2017 Nashville, Tennessee

Sunday we moved from Cave City to Nashville, Tennessee (100 miles/160km).
A short trip, so we had the afternoon for watching football. Unfortunately, we were too far south to pick up the Vikings game. Here they showed the Tennessee Titans (of coarse 😊).
We both like listening to music. All kinds of genres (but for sure not all the same 😊). If we were to pick one, we would both pick country. And because of that we HAD to go to Nashville. Nashville is the heart and soul of country music.
Willie Nelson (one of our absolute favorites) greeted us (bød velkommen) when we came to the campsite 😊

So it was time for another Hall of Fame. This time the Country Music Hall of Fame.
They had a special exhibition on Loretta Lynn (another of our favorites).
An amazing career from very poor conditions in the Appalachians in Kentucky (like she said, she never expected to leave Butcher Holler) to become one of the most popular country artists in history.(And a Presidential Medal of Freedom (den højeste civile udmærkelse man kan få I USA)).
What
was interesting, was that her career didn’t really take off until she started signing the songs she wrote herself.

The museum was full of stories and artifacts (museumsgenstande) from the beginning of country music till today.

An interesting story emerged (new to us for sure).
Johnny Cash wrote Folsom Prison Blues in 1953.He gave his first prison concert in 1959. That was at San Quentin. Among the inmates (fanger) who were there was Merle Haggard (sentenced to 15 years in San Quentin). He was released on parole (prøveløsladelse) after 2 years (in 1960).
From there he went  on to become a country legend with numerous hits and an induction to the Hall of Fame. Quite a change of career!!

P.S. (A piece of useless trivia /værdiløs viden) 😊

I learned many years ago, that many auto dealers (bilforhandlere) and Perkins (morgenmadsrestaurant) fly huge American flags. I just discovered a new contender: Campingworld (next door to our campsite).
This flag is HUGE! 80' x 40 (ca. 24 x 12 meter) (Well, I asked 😊)

The flagpole is 130 feet / 40 meter) and the flag costs $4500/ ca. DKK 30.000!
Now we all know 😊
