October 11 - 2017 Northport, Maine

As a gift for our retirement trip, our sons and their families gave us an “Annual National Parks Pass”. The USA is full of beautiful nature, and the best is protected (beskyttet) in their national parks. With this pass, we can visit all of the national parks for a year. Today we visited our first park – Acadia in Maine.

It is an area where the water from the Atlantic Ocean and the granite cliffs of Mount Desert Island meet. It is a beautiful combination. We took LOTS of pictures. It is always hard to choose which scenes to take pictures of, and how many pictures to take. We always take way too many, and when we get home, many of them look alike. And then it is hard to pick the best. Here are the ones we chose to post.

Relaxing at a peaceful pond

Sandy Beach seen from above

Thunder Hole

A little bit of everything -
water, blue sky, mountains and fall color

The shoreline

Jordan Pond and The Bubble Rocks

On top of Cadillac Mountain

Frenchman Bay seen from Cadillac Mountain

Cadillac Mountain is 1530 ft.(ca. 500 meter) above sea level.
Not that high, but nevertheless the highest mountain
on the east coast all the way to Brazil.

It gives great views on a clear day.

And again. It is impossible to catch the beauty with a camera.
You have to go see for yourself! 😊

  2. Yeah. We have been having great weather. I thought of you guys, and especially Dick, lots while in Maine. I bought a sweatshirt in Ba' Ha'bou', so now I think of him, every time it is chilly:)
