Monday, we decided to go into downtown Boston and see the
sights that don’t have to do with the Revolutionary War.
We went to Harvard, where we had a tour of the university, given by one of the students. Among other things, we learned that you don’t have to be rich to go there. The university gives financial aid to the students, who cannot afford the $60,000 it costs per year, to attend school there. So, if anyone is interested – don’t let money (or lack of it) stop you😊
The main Harvard library was build in memory of Harry Elkins-Widener, who died on the Titanic |
We also went to Cheers (Sams Bar). Some of you are old enough
to remember the tv show from the bar (with Ted Danson and Woody Harrelson, among others). We had a beer (Samuel Adams) and clam
chowder (muslinge suppe) for lunch. Both are local Boston products. It was a nice way to end up our trip to
downtown Boston.
Today (Tuesday), we decided to take the day off from being
tourists. We have done more everyday things like laundry, grocery shopping,
trailer repairs, …. JJ spent most of the morning talking to the phone company,
because our international texting (SMS) wasn’t working. Once again, we find
that the American system is not geared for international service. Once again,
we hear my sisters voice, “You didn’t think everything was going to go
smoothly, did you?”
