October 9-10 - 2017 Northport, Maine

We are now in Northport, Maine (60 miles/100 km) south of Bangor (if nothing else known from the song "King of the Road" 😊).
On Monday we drove a little over 300 miles (ca. 500 km) from Vermont to Maine. A tough ride: mountains, hills, rain and fog and we got here just soon enough to get the camper set up (almost) before it got dark.
It was the first day of bad weather we have had so far. It was bad when we left Vermont and it was still bad when we got to Maine - especially the thick fog that we ran into, as soon as we got into Maine.

Maine is a rural (landlig) state – as Vermont, but here, there is more the atmosphere of “vacation” country (sommerhusomrÃ¥de), and there are more towns than in Vermont.

The nature is beautiful. We drove westward towards the mountains to Grafton Notch State Park  (near Bethel, ME), to get some more fall colors. We did too!!
It is simply impossible to catch the colors in a picture (it sometimes looks like the whole thing is on fire). We tried the best we could and here are some of the many, many, many pictures we took:

At some point, we had trouble seeing the forest for the trees (kunne ikke se skoven for bare træer 😊).
