October 12 - 2017 Northport, Maine - October 13 -2017 Bellingham, Massachusetts

Thursday (the 12th) we decided to take it easy. Just drive around the area and towns near our campsite,
and see what we would run into.
The first thing we did was to pull in to a small garage (autovรฆrksted) just half a mile (800 m) from the campground to have our tire pressure checked (more accurately than you can at the gas stations).
Jims VW. A very small garage with 2-3 people and specialiced in VW.
We ended up talking to the guy who owns the place for 1½ hours!! ๐Ÿ˜Š About everything.
About Maine: the nature, the people, the food. Gun control laws in Maine compared to Denmark (seems like it is as easy to buy guns in Maine as it is to buy milk and you can now carry concealed (ikke synligt)).
Drugs – every person in Maine can now grow six marihuana plants!!
Educational system here and there (DK) – tax systems – immigration etc. etc. etc.
We were all over the place. Turned out to be a very interesting stop just to get air, and something you cannot plan for from your travel books. (The tires were just fine ๐Ÿ˜Š).

After that we drove around the area for a few hours.
Saw some striped cows. Some lighthouses on the coast.
Enjoyed the scenic views. The small towns and more fall colors.
(No – no more pictures of colors! ๐Ÿ˜Š).

When we started the blog, we decided not to post pictures of food. Not as a principle but just so that every other picture was not food, or us with our mouths full. One of the exceptions was Thursday.
Maine is famous for its lobsters (hummere) so we had to try them before we left.
We found a place in a little town nearby (recommended by Jim).  It was right at the source.
You saw the little fishing boats bring in the lobster. They swam around in the holding tank at the counter. Served on a paper plate!! And eaten outside at the dock, right next to the fishing boats.
It was good, but in my opinion not as good as “stegt flรฆsk med persillesovs” (fried porkrind with parsley milk sauce) ๐Ÿ˜Š ๐Ÿ˜Š

A nice and quiet day away from the typical tourist spots with all the other retired people traveling the US.๐Ÿ˜Š

Friday was another day in transit.
We moved 240 miles (ca. 400 km) down the coast to Bellingham, Massachusetts (40 miles/65 km southwest of Boston).
Nice trip, nice weather, no backup traffic. Totally the opposite of the trip we had to get to Maine.
We got to the campground midafternoon and got assigned a spot (No. 56). It was up a steep hill and pretty uneven. But in half an hour we had the hole thing set up. Backed up the hill (4 wheel drive again ๐Ÿ˜Š) Got the trailer levelled on 3 big boards.
Water, electricity, sewer (kloak) and cable hooked up. Ready for a fresh cup of coffee.

Just then a woman from the campsite office showed up and asked if we were ok. She had seen at the office that a new employee had given us #56. The worst spot they have and one they only use as the very last spot!! ๐Ÿ˜Š

She offered to find a better spot for us, which we thought might be a good idea.
So we dismantled and unhooked everything! Half an hour later we were set up at site #81.
A Much nicer spot and very level
.
