May 15 - 2018 Bodega Bay, California

Tuesday morning (the 15th) we left Pleasanton, heading for the west coast, for California Highway 1.
We expected a short move but ran into problems with finding a campground. They were fully booked.
And that in the middle of the week! We called quite a few. One didn’t answer the phone, so we went there. It was lucky that they didn’t answer, because if they had we had probably booked a space.
What a dump (skodsted)!! It would have been the worst place we would have stayed at so far.

Eventually we found a nice and quiet campground in Bodega Bay. Right on the Pacific coast.
It ended up with a 100 miles (160 km) move, but because of the campsite problem it took us a bit longer than usual.

We spend the afternoon driving north on California Highway 1. We expected, from what we have heard and read, that it would be a nice drive. But again, what we saw was way above expectations.

The pictures speak for themselves:

We were amazed by the color of the water, the play of light on it, the waves,...
It was made more special because there were so many wild flowers. Beautiful!

We were not the only ones enjoying the good weather and beautiful view!

In the evening we walked from our campsite down to the beach to watch the sunset.
It was kind of cloudy, but that actually made it more spectacular.

    1. As you will see from our latest blog, we did go to Mt. Lassen. We already had it planned, but it is nice, you are keeping an eye open for things for us to see. We are always open to suggestions.
