May 20-21 - 2018 Crescent City, California

On May 20, we drove 280 miles /ca. 450 km from Shingletown to Crescent City. Both are in California, but we drove into Oregon to get there, to avoid driving over some mountains. Well, we did drive through the mountains anyway, just not quite as many.

We were up in the clouds!
We are now very near the Pacific coast again - northwest California/southwest Oregon. We came to see some more of the ocean and the huge redwood trees. We are staying here 5 days, so we have time to explore the area. We decided to drive up Highway 101 to Oregon first (Monday, May 21).

It was a nice drive. Oregon is so lush (frodig). However, the vegetation (planterne), especially the trees, blocked our view of the ocean. The drive was not as stunning as the one we did around Bodega Bay about a week ago. (We are getting difficult to please.) But the ocean was beautiful, when we did see it.

We walked down on the beach. The tide was going out, and it left large tide pools and smooth rocks.

We are having major problems with our computer, so JJ has spent a lot of time yesterday and today, trying to get it up and running again. While he was working on that this afternoon, I went for a walk in the woods.
We are camping next to Jedediah Smith Redwoods state park. There are many walking trails in the park. There were very few people there, and there was an incredible sense of peace. I will try to recreate the mood (stemming) through some of the pictures I took.

When I was done with walk, JJ was almost done with fixing the computer! I am married to a computer "genius" (geni)!!!! And now we are able to write the blog again 😊
