April 12 - 2018 Cameron, Arizona

Today (April 12th) was “Grand Canyon Day”. Need we say more? 😊

People may not have heard of Antelope Canyon or Horseshoe Bend, but everyone has heard of the Grand Canyon. We had seen it before (in 1996), but we wanted to see it again, since we were so close. We were not disappointed!
But once again we find that pictures do not show all the beauty.

Some facts about the Grand Canyon….
Length: 277 miles/446 km
Average depth: 5000 ft /1525 m
Average width from rim to rim: 10 miles/16 km
The canyon is made up of thousands of small canyons (or gorges).
It was formed by the erosion of many smaller rivers running into the Colorado river, which you can see flowing in the bottom of the canyon.
