April 6 - 2018 Phoenix, Arizona

On Friday, April 6, we moved to the Phoenix area. A short move. Only 130 miles / 200 km.
On the way up, we noticed a couple of things. Almost all the freeway overpasses (motorvejsbroer) were decorated in different patterns and colors. Looked very nice.

Even though JJ worked with truck transport all his life, he is fascinated by the competition - the American trains. This one came towards us on our way to Phoenix.
We are staying at Mesa Spirit RV Resort in Mesa Arizona. It is a +55 resort, meaning that at least one person at the site has to be 55 or over. No one under the age of 18 is allowed to stay over night here, and there are special rules about where children can be. It is a place that caters to retired people – some who live here year-round, but also a lot of snowbirds (folk fra det kolde nord, som f.eks. Minnesota, der tager syd pĂ„ i vinterhalvĂ„ret).
The place is HUGE. There are 1600 sites. Many of them have small trailer houses, carports, small gardens. Others have campers parked – some look permanent, others are travelers, like us.

The biggest camper we have seen - so far

There are 3 swimming pools, 4 or 5 hot tubs, a fitness room, many rooms for meetings and activities. There is a long list of activities provided, such as arts and crafts, dance, choirs, bingo, sports leagues, Bibel study,…. Something for everyone. We went to the pool a couple of times. The water is as warm as bath water! We were not even tempted to try the hot tubs!

This is so much different than the last campground we had, that was in the middle of nature. This is an interesting place, but there is no doubt, that we liked the last place much more.
